Hello! Newbie here.

Finally decided to branch out into fly fishing and am a little lost/intimidated by fishing the large river that runs through my city. The river is about 200 meters wide on average with some spots narrowing to about 150m. The rivers depth varies along the city, but I know where it gets deep or shallow.

The rivers does hold a few species of trout which are what I’d like to go for. How should I approach this? What should I be on the lookout for?

Does anybody know of some nice lakes or spots along the river that are good for fly fishing? I’ll gladly drive 2 hours to get somewhere.
