Fenix sapphire for a mechanic…

As the title would suggest, I’m a mechanic by trade but I also enjoy my smart watches, because my god isn’t life easier with them.

My question is, given my job do I put faith in the sapphire coating or should I use a screen protector?

To give a bit of a background…

I have been using Garmin Instinct 2 for a fair few years now and it did not disappoint. It put up with all the abuse it got from being soaked in various oils, dusts and many different bangs and knocks along with various different regular activities of swimming, kyaking etc. Although I always used a plastic film screen protector on it. It was only the strap that I ever had to replace on it.

I hope my new Fenix will serve me as well as the instinct did but I do worry of making it look like a bag of shit if I don’t use a protector.

I look forward to hearing about your experiences and opinions.
