Is it legal for Medicaid to deny my shoulder surgery because I smoke?
I am a 55yo woman (Arizona) and in agonizing pain and have been for the last month. It’s gotten progressively worse after a bad fall last year. My surgeon (at the time) did not repair it correctly.
I had a fractured humerus, dislocated bicep and full and partial tears of my rotator cuff. Not sure if the bicep was dislocated during the fall or by the surgeon.
I finally found a reputable surgeon to repair it but now my insurance is denying it because I smoke. Is there anything I can do? I appreciate any help or assistance!
