About to start Aircraft Maintenance school — should I explore other technical careers?

I’m 26 in Canada and about to start an Aircraft Maintenance Technician program because I like technical, hands-on work and troubleshooting.
But I’m worried the field is competitive and I may be committing without knowing enough alternatives. I currently work as a machine operator and want exposure to other technical careers with good demand, stable income, and realistic job opportunities in Canada.
What technical careers would you recommend, and why? (PLC, electrical, healthcare tech, instrumentation, etc.)
I’d appreciate honest advice, especially from Canadians.
