The Lantern in the Rain

The Lantern in the Rain

On a rainy evening, Maya spotted a tiny lantern glowing beneath a park bench. It was no bigger than her hand, but its warm golden light never flickered, even in the wind.

She picked it up and noticed a note tied to its handle:

*“Carry me where someone needs light.”*

Curious, Maya walked through town. Near the bus stop, she saw an elderly man searching the ground for something. “My keys,” he sighed.

Maya lifted the lantern, and its glow stretched farther than it should have. A silver glint flashed near the curb. The man smiled as he picked up his keys.

“Looks like you brought good luck,” he said.

Maya looked down at the lantern, but its light had grown softer, as if it were smiling too.
