EB2-NIW Approved (PD Dec 2023) - DQ at London Embassy, Questions About Research Collaboration & Interview Wait Times
Hi everyone,
Looking for some guidance/advice from people who may have gone through a similar EB2-NIW journey.
My wife’s EB2-NIW was approved in January 2026 (Priority Date: December 2023). We became documentarily qualified on 20 March 2026 and are currently waiting for the interview letter from the London Embassy.
We are from one of 75 countries (Pakistan) currently affected by the pause, so we’re trying to stay prepared for whenever things start moving again.
A bit about her background:
- Her research area is Blockchain and Trustworthy AI Systems
- She is currently pursuing her PhD in the UK
- Her EB2-NIW was approved in the same field
- She is also academically collaborating with a US university research project in the same area of expertise/interest. This collaboration is independent from her PhD and is more at a research/academic level rather than formal employment or official institutional affiliation.
- We do have a letter from the US project lead outlining her involvement, contribution, and role within the project.
I had a couple of questions and would really appreciate input from this community:
- Would this kind of ongoing academic/research collaboration with a US university be viewed positively as evidence of continued commitment to the proposed endeavour in the US?
- If she were able to obtain future letters of intent, collaboration confirmations, or even a research/employment opportunity in the US, is there any mechanism to incorporate that into an already approved EB2-NIW case/interview process? Or is it simply something to carry to the immigrant visa interview if needed?
- Does anyone have recent experience with EB-based immigrant visa interview wait times at the London Embassy after becoming DQ’d? Curious to know current timelines for interview letters.
Would really appreciate any experiences, thoughts, or guidance from you good people here, especially from anyone navigating the current pause situation.
Thanks in advance!
