You guys think he might touch on "Dark Horse"?
To those who aren't aware, this has become a scandal/joke over here in Brazil.
One of the presidency candidates, Flavio Bolsonaro, son of Ex-president Jair Bolsonaro, is funding for a movie about his dad, titled "Dark Horse". However, there were rumours of involvement of one Daniel Vorcaro, a corrupt banker accused for money laundering, fraud and was connected to criminal factions. Tried to leave the country but was caught and his assets were liquidated.
Two days ago, Flavio Bolsonaro dismissed it as a lie, but in the same day, audio messages and text chats were leaked that showed that, yes, Vorcaro WAS funding the movie, promising to pay up to 24 million dollars (in exchange rate, at the time, was 134 million reais) and already having paid 10,6 million between february and may of last year. For reference, all three Brazillian oscar Nominated movies, City of God, I'm still here and The Secret Agent, were done with FAR less budget. That's because some of that money also went to a company who Flavio's brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, had ties with in Texas. Cue the amount of nonsense excuses about "just trying to make a private movie with private money", "back when he made the deal he wasn't involved in fraud", "We were looking for investors and he offered to do it" and "Just trying to honor a great, honest and upstanding man" (Bolsonaro tried to flee the country back when he lost the elections)
As for the movie...well...it's shit. The version that is available is the 7th draft but...goddamn...
For starters, Bolsonaro's party is right-leaning, so they're the super-patriotic, except for cultural works and the likes. So the Brazillian story and characters are all played by American actors, the movie's written in english and produced in the US.
Second, they do the typical "Asshole writing a story about himself" and have all descriptions of Bolsonaro be:
tall, handsome, easy smile, quick wit, fiery and funny at the same time,
...
Bolsonaro grins wryly, unimpressed
...
BOLSONARO (CONT'D)
What? What can I do?
MICHELLE
You’re doing it.
He squeezes her tighter.
MICHELLE (CONT'D)
The things they say about you. It scares
me. They’re trying to provoke someone to
hurt you...
BOLSONARO
No one would hurt me. People love me. They
can’t help themselves.
He’s grinning, tossing it aside. Part of his charm.
Third, despite the movie being in english, they still decide to add in the "No es my fault"/"Spanglish" type of talk
AURELIO
And let me tell you -- (leans down, conspiratorial) -- If there’s a filho-da-puta who deserves
to die, it’s this Fascist sonafabitch. But
you need to get that number up a little, amigo. This is risky shit.
Among many other hilarities like Bolsonaro firing and dropping off his son in the middle of the street and then rehiring him in the time it takes for him the car to do a U-turn to get him, one of his ministers being depicted and treated like some sort of holy prophet and witch doctor who gives him mysterious pills and vanishes, and i'm quoting the script, "like a ghost..." and this gem:
BOLSONARO
Rumors are like farts, they come from
assholes.
Which is something incredibly ironic to depict him saying, seeing as he was the guy running misinformation campaigns against his opponent lmao
All these things considered, i think would make a great cold open for the next episode. They tape it on Saturday, but apparently the details of the script only came out today. Do you think he might still talk about it?
