Applying for a CRA Traineeship

Hello there! I’m a neuroscience postgraduate looking to apply for a CRA traineeship/graduate programme in Europe. The programme specifies that it is mainly aimed at people with little to no experience who want to become a CRA.

I really want to maximise my chances of getting accepted, but since I come from a fully academic background, I’m not sure which parts of my experience I should emphasise. Also, most of my research experience has been in animal studies, rather than clinical trials.

Breifly, I have around three years of internship experience, involving coding, data analysis, some clinical data collection, and extensive mice/macaque data collection. I have also completed four dissertations. In addition, I have a publication that involved a poster presentation, and I worked part-time alongside my studies, so I’m used to managing several responsibilities at once.

Within my animal research work, I was responsible for recording welfare-related information, flagging any issues, and making sure data collection was accurate and consistent. During my internships, I also had to check that equipment was working properly and troubleshoot or fix problems when needed.

For people working as CRAs or in clinical research: how should I present this kind of background when applying for a CRA traineeship? Which skills or experiences are most relevant to highlight, and is there anything I should avoid overemphasising?
