Does the first disbursement come as a refund or book advance? If so when does the refund come

financial aid is disbursed during the semester, but don’t they give a bit of aid before the semester begins for supplies and textbooks etc?

I’m currently enrolled in a few classes. At what point am I supposed to know what textbooks to buy and where will I know what to buy?

I have a charge due on the 17th and my financial aid covers it but the aid says pending. Is my aid not going to cover it and what happens if I cant pay it tomorrow?
