Triple audition extension?

Hey ya’ll,

Been more active lately cause I find talking with other actors helps (I vent to my very supportive, lovely friends but they’re not in the industry at all, so I try not to bother them with every insecure actor whim). I appreciate this community here a lot it’s been very help to read through it all.

All that to say I didn’t follow my own advice of sending the tape and forgetting, because, well it was just one of those “this could change my life” auditions. I’m only human. But boy do I regret looking at the submission again.

I noticed the deadline has been extended three times now and I would love insight (for those more experienced or on the other side of things) into what’s going on when this happens? I imagine there would be some people asking for more time (they gave us a generous 5 days but I know life gets busy). It was due Monday morning. And now extended to Wednesday afternoon. Seems like a lot?

Insights? This hasn’t happened to me before and I wouldn’t say I love it.

As a side question: has anyone ever booked when they’re excited, nervous and hoping? Seems like the only time one books the job is when they’re about to toss in the towel or just detached and saw it as another audition they didn’t think much of.

Camera Acting classes - SF

Hello all!
Looking for some camera acting classes in or around San Francisco. I live about 2 hours away from the city, which I don’t mind driving if it’s for something worth while.
Anyone have specific suggestions?

I’m not a beginner actor, but only recently giving the “big screen career” dream my best shot (since January) of this year.
my background is mostly theatre - I have an agent and solid materials that get me auditions. Nothing booked yet, which could be a number of things, but I’d like to get better or at least interact and connect with other film actors while I try not to think about auditions that may or may not be a thing if you know what I mean. Not much outside of theatre going on in my local area (which I still love don’t get me wrong)

Any somewhat affordable recommendations? Feeling safe as a woman is also an important aspect.

Film Acting Videos - Technical

Hello all,

wondering if anyone would be willing to share any videos they found educational when it comes to the technical bits of film acting?

To give you a sense of where I'm coming from, I don't necessarily want "acting" lesson videos - I have a background in theatre and do understand the transition to film acting requires subtlety and is a different medium etc.

So less "how to act" or "methods," but just technical stuff you don't realize until you are on a proffessional film set and working.

Obviously there's only so much you can learn until you just do the damn thing, and I pride myself in my ability to observe, catch on and be honest/politely inquire when I don't understand something (in every industry, that goes a long way), but I would like to learn more about it as I have bigger auditions coming in and the imposter syndrome is creeping in haha.

For instance, the post in the FAQs that explains how to be an extra on set? Pure gold. It was SO helpful for me to read before showing up.

How common are major streaming services auditions?

Hello,
Newer to actors access and the Hollywood grind, but I’ve been a theatre actor in my local areas well over a decade. Decided to finally give my big dreams a shot since I took people’s advice that it was too scary and competitive to be an actor - long story short ended up getting traumatized and taken advantage of in my hometown anyway, so after healing and moving on from some shit I said “might as well go for it and admit I want it.” So I’ve been at the self tape thing since January.

All this to say I’m curious about what’s behind the certain a lot of the time and other experiences. I got an agent recently and have “been selected to submit self tapes” for a couple of series regulars on major streaming services. I have yet to receive a callback for anything, but wanted to know how common this is? Especially since I’m not SAG eligible yet. I have all theatre and virtual ZERO film credits (background in a commercial and 1 influencer ad) I always try to keep a level head and never get too attached to any outcome - once I send the audition off it’s no longer my business haha and I try to forget about it completely.

My questions for anyone who’s been on the other side the tapes on a bigger level:
- I’m grateful to be even receiving self tape requests for such big “opportunities”, but why would they if I’m not SAG? Do they look at that or notice later and maybe that’s a big reason I haven’t gotten a callback?
-How many people on average do they request self tapes from for a “fractional series regular” role? Like are they just selecting 10,000 blonde girls for an assistant to select 100 of for the next round?
-is this a good sign that I’m on the right track? Or just getting my hopes up a little high a little too soon?

Maybe it wouldn’t be helpful to my psyche to know haha but I am curious since I find it odd I’m being selected for things like that at this point unless they really just select a TON from the initial again submissions.

Thanks for any feedback!
