Cutting Paraffin Wax

Newbie here. Just opened my 1st order of paraffin to break some off to start testing. It was recommended to me to use an exacto knife to score the wax and then snap off chunks. That doesn’t work so great and bent the razor so it’s useless. So I then went to a box knife. A little better but still no good. I basically ended up using a mini chisel and a hammer and even that wasn’t great. There’s gotta be a better way. Plus all of these methods made a pretty good mess too. How do you separate/cut yours?
