Any advice to start a new career after 26 years as a chef?
New to Reddit but I have noticed it’s the only place where anyone can get some kind of answer or guidance.
Basically I’m a chef of 26 years. Michelin, rosette, ex Ramsay and other notable chefs. I’ve spent some time teaching secondary schools (food tech). I want and need a change. I want a new career that still tests me and challenges me, has a good career trajectory but also a good work-life balance.
I’d love a career where using my hands is a must. I applied to Severn Trent water and I’m awaiting their reply for a network technician and hope I can get my food in there somehow as that seems to be a good company to work for and a good steady job for my foreseeable as a worker till I retire at 90.
I love the outdoors, working myself to the bone, seeing new things and being recognised as a hard worker.
Does anyone have any ideas or places of where I can start? Any leg ups. Or know of jobs going?
Based in Nottingham, happy to travel.
