Expectation to have a competitive group with zero budget
I have been given the expectation to have a competitive indoor Drumline group without a budget. In previous years the group has had access to a small budget allowing us to pay for transportation, meals, and entry fees along with a stipend. I recently had a student approach me saying our admin told them that we will “not be getting any money next year” due to financial issues and will have to fundraise everything ourselves. Does this fall under “duties as assigned” or can I refuse this extra duty since there isn’t a budget to even allow the group to exist? I do receive a stipend but it pertains to all of the football games and marching band competitions we attend in the fall semester. On top of all this my administrator didn’t even have the professional courtesy to tell me in person and I had to get information from a student. Not sure what my next steps should be..
