I recently dismantled an old, rotting deck. It was built on top of an old concrete slab that surrounds a bay window. I’m now realizing the (now uncovered) slab is leaning towards my house and some rainwater is going towards my foundation, so I’m considering just removing the slab and regrading, but I’ve never done this before.
On either side it looks like the slab is floating from the foundation, but should I expect rebar to be connecting the two? Also, is there a way to tell if this slab is providing support for the bay window area?
If I try to remove this slab with a rented jackhammer and concrete dumpster, am I going to catastrophically damage my foundation and/or bay window nook?
I want to put in a deck or patio in a few years, but just want to shore up any potential water damage to my foundation. Should I just get it jacked up? Looks like it already was once.
Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated.
