Hi everyone! I’m an incoming dental student moving to the White Plains/Westchester area this summer for school and I’m starting my apartment search now.

I’m ideally looking for a studio around the $2,000–$2,500 range. I’d really love something safe, relatively quiet, with parking available since I’ll have my car with me.

I’ve been looking mostly around White Plains, West Harrison, and nearby areas that are within a reasonable commute to New York Medical College/Touro. I’m also trying to figure out which buildings are actually worth the price vs which ones look nice online but have issues in reality.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations on:
- apartment buildings/complexes you’ve had good experiences with
- parking situations/fees
- areas or buildings to avoid
- student-friendly or young professional-friendly places
- anything you wish you knew before renting here

Also—would love insight on whether it’s worth working with a realtor in this area. I’ve noticed a lot of listings seem to be through agents/MLS, and I’m trying to figure out if they actually provide access to more options or if it’s doable to find a place on my own through sites like Zillow/Apartments.com.

I’m moving from California, so any local insight would seriously help. Thank you so much in advance! 😊
