Update: After 23 interviews, I finally got a great offer!!

I got the job I truly wanted and I still can’t believe it. I really want to encourage anyone who’s job searching right now to keep going, because there was a point where I couldn’t see it happening for me either.

After searching for a while, it seemed that this job market isn’t willing to train people. I was rejected for not using a specific system (something that can easily be taught), rejected for not having worked with a particular team, rejected despite having strong transferable skills. It was so discouraging.

So during the interview for this role, there was a question where I didn’t have the exact experience they were asking about, so I answered honestly. I just told them I didn’t have it. Walking out, I was convinced I’d be ghosted or rejected. To my surprise, a week later HR reached out and I was offered the position.

The role is a step up in my career with a lot to learn, and it fits my lifestyle perfectly. I’ll be working remotely four days a week, with a 12–8 shift. It’s great for morning workouts, appointments, or just sleeping in.

What makes it even better is that my friend, who has been job searching alongside me for the past five months, just got an offer too. Same schedule, diff company.

I’m so relieved and excited that the wait is finally over.

(A quick note: I actually received two offers a week apart. The first was four days in-office with overtime expectations, less pay and less career growth opportunities than the second. It wasn’t a hard choice. I took the second offer.)

Over the past 3 months, I’ve had 19 interviews. 9 companies responded to my resume. I made it to 5 final rounds. Some of these companies had 3 stage interviews others 2. I’ve gotten rejections from all of them.
I’ve received personalized feedback for some of the jobs I applied for. They basically say they were impressed by my experience( then proceed to share what I did well), but instead chose to go with someone more experienced. I’ve gotten 2 phone calls to reject me/ share their feedback that they went with some else.
It just feels so soul crushing. I review my interviews after and look to improve my responses with each interview but I just never seem to be the fit.
I know the job market is tough, but it’s hard to not take it personally. It’s like I can’t sell myself well to get an offer. I have the experience ( 3yrs investment operations experience) and I know I can do the job. 😞

I’m just feling so discouraged right now.
Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong? I appreciate any advice.
