Switched to Stratum V2 on Umbrel (Bitcoin Node v1.3.0) — Do I need to change my port from 2018?

Hi everyone,
I just updated my Umbrel Bitcoin Node to v1.3.0, which introduces Stratum V2 support. I am solo mining using home micro-miners (like the NerdAxe) connected locally to my node via the built-in Public Pool app.
In my miner's dashboard, I can now choose between Stratum V1 and Stratum V2 (as seen in the screenshot below).
I have two quick questions for the experts here:

  1. Should I switch my miner to Stratum V2 or stick with V1? What are the real-world benefits for local solo mining?
  2. Do I need to change the Stratum Port? Currently, Public Pool displays port 2018 as the default. If I select Stratum V2 on my miner, should I keep it on port 2018 or use a different port?
I monitor all my hardware hashrate and statistics locally using the Public Pool dashboard UI. Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences on this new update!
    Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been running a solo mining setup for a while now, and I wanted to double-check my performance metrics with the community.

My Setup:

Node: Raspberry Pi running Umbrel (Bitcoin Core 30.2.0).

Network: Local connection via GL.iNet router and Tailscale for remote monitoring.

Miners: A mix of Nerdaxe (13 TH/s) and Bitaxe (1.2 TH/s) units, total hashrate currently around 40 TH/s.

Connection: Mining directly to my Umbrel node via the Stratum port (192.168.8.154:2018).

The Performance:

Uptime: 13+ hours stable.

Ping: ~5.5ms (very low latency).

Rejected Shares: Very low (around 0.31%).

My Question:

I noticed that the "Shares" count increases quite slowly (increments slowly over time). For example, on the 13 TH/s unit, I got about 5,500 shares in 13 hours. Is this "slow" pace normal when mining solo against a local node? Or should I be looking into adjusting any settings like the "Initial Suggested Stratum Difficulty"?

I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything and that my units are hashing efficiently toward my own node.

Thanks for the help! ₿⚡

Hey everyone,

I just started setting up my own Bitcoin full node at home using a Raspberry Pi 5 with Umbrel OS.

I’ve heard from many people that initial block download (IBD) usually takes a week or even more, but check this out: I managed to sync 516 GB in only 13 hours! (As shown in the screenshots).

My Setup:

Hardware: Raspberry Pi 5.

Storage: NVMe SSD connected via an M.2 NVMe HAT.

Cooling: Official Active Cooler (stable at 50°C).

Internet: 300 Mbps Fiber connection (running over Wi-Fi).

Am I on the right track? Is it the NVMe HAT + Fiber combo that made this possible, or did I just get lucky with my peers? 😅

Would love to hear your thoughts and if anyone else has achieved similar speeds with the Pi 5! 🚀🔥
