Napoleon BGD36 (IPI) Pilot lights, but main burner won’t ignite — Looking for tech recommendations in Ottawa/Orléans
Hey everyone,
I’m having an issue with my Napoleon BGD36 gas fireplace (Serial: 237524). It has an electronic ignition (IPI) setup with a SIT control module.
The Problem:
The pilot light sparks, turns on, and runs perfectly fine. However, the main burner completely refuses to ignite.
What I've already troubleshooted:
Cleaning: The pilot assembly, flame sensor, and burner plate have been completely cleaned and vacuumed out.
The Switch Circuit: I tried bypassing the wall switch completely by jumping the TH and THTP terminals directly on the red block with a copper wire. The main burner still did not fire up.
Power Check: The lower black electronic control module box is getting full power (both the red and green status indicator lights are glowing solidly).
Because the jumper test didn't trigger the valve even though the module has power, it feels like I'm dealing with a faulty electronic ignition control module or a failing internal gas valve solenoid.
1 Does anyone have experience with this specific Napoleon setup? Does this sound like a module failure or a valve issue?
2 Looking for a Tech: Since this is moving into gas/voltage diagnostics, does anyone have a recommendation for a reliable, licensed gas fireplace technician in the Ottawa / Orléans area who knows these IPI systems well?
Thanks in advance for any insight!
