Was gifted a Lil Tex from a friend and am in the process of restoring it. I'm guessing the grate could be scrubbed and salvaged but am wondering if I need to get a new heat baffle?
Also wondering if I should definitely get a drip tray with holes in it for better heat dissipation while I'm at it?
A buddy just gave me my first smoker. I'm not too familiar with the parts but upon quick glance the grate, drip tray and heat baffle are pretty rusted so I am guessing I will just replace those. Should I consider getting anything specific, for example stainless steel grates maybe?
I haven't had a chance to poke around and make sure everything else works but I did plug it in to see if it powers on and it does but the led display seems to only partially work. Should I consider a new digital PID? With WiFi perhaps? According to chatGPT I will need to check the auger, fire pot, and do an "5 minute electrical dry run" to see if anything else needs work which I will be doing tomorrow. Anything I should know in case I find anything else that might need attention?
