Apple Pay/cash from friend

I’m a 42 year-old female and I have been on SSI for many years. The other night, I was talking with a friend, and telling him that my car is not working, and I’ve been struggling lately with bills, groceries and other things. He sent me $600 via Apple Pay (I didn’t ask for it….I didn’t even have it, so I had to sign up for an account and put my SS# in). At first, I was very happy to have this help, but now I’m thinking I should contact Social Security and tell them about this gift because I’m afraid it could be used against me (the 600 wouldn’t put me over the $2000 limit as I have no money in my account, but now I have this stupid Apple Pay account, and an extra $600 I got as a gift which I should have declined). I had already accepted it, bought myself credits on Uber, Lyft, DoorDash etc (things I’d need until I figure out a car solution- I can’t afford a new one). Any feedback? Also, since it was sent as a gift will I get a 1099? I really messed up. 😭 I can’t even send him the money back because I already bought a bunch of gift cards to help me out for the next month or two.
