[Urgent] Seeking advice for Parking/Staging an 80ft Boom Lift at Petain Road (Jalan Besar) for 2 months
Hi everyone, I’m a junior coordinator working on my first major project and I’m hitting a wall with URA/LTA.
We have a project at Petain Road (Serangoon/Jalan Besar area) that requires an 80ft Boom Lift on-site for approximately 2 months.
The Dilemma: The transport cost for this machine is $400–$600 per round trip. We cannot afford to transport it back to the vendor's yard every day. We need a way to stage/park it overnight near the site.
The Runaround:
- URA: Says we cannot reserve or park heavy machinery in the public street lots in that area. They told us to check with LTA.
- LTA: Says that since it involves parking on/near public roads, it’s under URA’s jurisdiction.
- Bendemeer Heavy Vehicle Park: I found this nearby, but driving an 80ft lift 1.5km on public roads daily seems like a legal/traffic nightmare (OVM permits, slow speed, potential damage to road).
Seeking advice from anyone with similar experience:
- TOL/Staging: Has anyone successfully applied for a Temporary Occupation Licence (TOL) for equipment staging in the Jalan Besar area? Who is the best person to talk to?
- Private Options: Are there any private yards or "lobangs" (connections) in the area that allow monthly paid parking for heavy machinery?
- Road Movement: If I have to move it to a heavy vehicle park, what are the LTA requirements for driving a boom lift of this size on the road? (Escorts? Night move only?)
- Back Alley: I found a back alley right behind the site that has no road name, I'm wondering if can just park there and cordon off the area.
I'm trying to avoid a situation where we get slapped with a heavy fine or cause a massive traffic jam. Any advice would be a lifesaver. Thanks in advance!
