Current or former DoN 0083 Police Officers at Naval Base Coronado

I’m currently a federal employee and recently interviewed for a GS-06 Police Officer position with Naval Base Coronado. I’m trying to get a better understanding of the job from those who have actually worked it.

A few questions:

What was the hiring process like from interview to final offer/EOD?

How long did the background investigation take?

What’s the day-to-day work environment like at Coronado?

What are the most common assignments or patrol areas?

How is the leadership and overall morale?

What opportunities are there for specialized assignments, training, or advancement?

How often is overtime available?

What shifts do most new officers start on?

If you could do it again, would you still take the job?

I’m looking for honest feedback the good, the bad, and the ugly. Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks
