Steam allows pornographic* child grooming simulators on its platform
I couldn't really think of a more appropriate place to post this. I was unfortunately introduced yesterday to the reality that Steam allows loli/shota porn games on its platform as long as the pornographic content isn't in the main game but downloaded off-site in the form of a patch.
The game I saw in my discovery queue yesterday was about grooming a young girl that's been abandoned by her parents and is sent to live with you. Basically a homeless child under your care. Per the descriptions, you gradually wear down her defenses until you can sexually abuse her and make her your pregnant child bride. To say it's disgusting would be a massive understatement.
Steam apparently allows it because anything sexual has been stripped from the steam release and has to be downloaded off the dev's Discord.
I understand that Steam is legally in the clear here because of that stupid workaround, but I'm sure if enough attention is brought to this they would have to act and remove this type of game, effectively banning the "off-site porn patch" workaround for highly inappropriate and/or illegal content.
Thoughts?
edit: This didn't go over too well, but I'll at least try to answer a few common questions and add relevant details.
1. The patch is optional content: When you download the game off other platforms, it comes with all the illegal content that was removed for the Steam release. So this is not a case of an optional patch adding unintended content: the game sold on Steam is an incomplete version of the intended CSAM simulator that is restored to full functionality with the patch.
2. You can filter content you don't like on Steam: I don't like that this content is available at all but even if I agreed with the notion of just filtering your own games recommendations, this wouldn't suffice. The game is not age-restricted on Steam. A child with a Steam account could have this game advertised to them.
3. Why won't you name the game? Concerns about giving it free publicity, mostly. I wasn't looking to start a mass reporting campaign because that's a temporary fix to a larger problem. But if you insist on verifying the veracity of my claims and reporting it, it's called Raising a happy neet. Just... don't fucking buy it. Someone who finances the production of this type of trash should find no allies among socialists.
