Synopsis:
Emma is set to marry Nicholas, a spoiled Boston heir, due to a family agreement—until she catches him cheating right before the wedding. Heartbroken, she's approached by his older brother Daniel, a calm and composed cardiac surgeon, who makes her an unexpected proposal: ""Marry me instead."" Emma thinks it's just a practical arrangement, not realizing that Daniel has been quietly in love with her for over a decade—ever since he saved her as a little girl playing by the ocean. This marriage isn't a deal to him. It's the only way he can finally love her out in the open.
Review:
Daniel is hands-down the gentlest, most emotionally mature MMC I've read in years. No aggressive moves, no forced kisses—just twelve years of quiet devotion and showing up when she needs him most. He remembers every little thing about her, gives up career opportunities just to stay near her, and slowly heals her people-pleasing tendencies with nothing but patience and respect. Emma's growth from someone who constantly seeks approval to someone brave enough to stand up for him is incredibly satisfying. The side characters (her hilarious bestie, her wise grandma, even the regret-filled ex) are well-written too. Sweet, warm, and packed with feels. Highly recommend if you love soft yet devoted male leads!
