Hey everyone,
I spent the last few days digging through every USCIS rule and talking to a few advisors to figure out what our actual options are if the delay is about to cost us our jobs. I put together a guide for us to use as a survival manual for this 2026 backlog.
If you applied in March/April, we’re unfortunately stuck in the H-1B lottery backlog. Don't panic if your friend who applied in February got theirs in 3 weeksz the queue is just different now.
If your start date is coming up, DON'T ghost your HR. I found that being transparent about the "administrative delay" and proposing a new date works way better than waiting until the last second.
If your case is actually outside the normal processing time, you can reach out to your local Rep. They have people who can actually nudge USCIS on our behalf.
If your OPT is approved but the card is lost/delayed, you can legally stop your 90-day clock by volunteering 20+ hours a week in your major.
