RIP Cottonwood I am glad you didn't kill us!

Update on a recent post I made about our Cottonwood tree which we had recently learned was Completely Boned; it has officially been felled! 🫡

Lucky us that one of the guys who surveyed our property partly owns a logging business that occasionally partners with an ASCA arborist company to remove big-ass trees. He was willing to work pro-bono (so we'd only be paying the ASCA guys) with the promise of also getting to cut down and sell the crap ton of dangerous Cedar trees on the hill right behind our house (they're what he originally came to look at before he saw the Cottonwood). Everyone involved was certified, bonded, insured, etc.

All-in-all, took two business days' worth of labor and two cranes to cut off the limbs then trim down the trunk. Final bill was $6,800 for the ASCA guys' time and the equipment used.

Please, do enjoy analyzing how utterly fucked this tree (and our home) had been LMAO

Is this Cottonwood totally boned? (Western WA, USA)

We've had a contractor, a logger, and an arborist out on the property to look at our trees, and they all agree that this tree is dying, needs to come down before it falls down, and will be a humungous pain in the ass to remove. TL;DR: they report it is rotting and hollowed from the inside out, and a number of upper branches are shedding bark, aka dying. The tree is estimated 80-120 ft tall.

I'm just here for any second opinions and advice on how to even begin affording such an operation. 😭 We've only lived here for like 3 years man, this FULLY sucks.
