Feedback to Jeweler
Hi!
Looking for some advice/feedback on my custom ring from a local jeweler.
I sourced this 3.03 ct moval lab diamond and took it to a local jeweler to get it custom mounted. We went back and forth quite a few times to get it just right on paper, I was very particular on the band being a slight euro shank to help with rotation and the height to be set not too high.
There’s a few things not to my liking:
\- they forgot the engraving
\- they put the wrong prong tips on, I requested claw and got round
\- the north and south of the diamond over hangs the ring more than I’d like. The CAD drawing shows the hidden halo reaching the tips protecting it. In reality, the diamond hangs over making it really sharp when I accidentally rub it.
\- the ring is 0.25-0.5 too big (how easy would it to resize a euro shank ring?)
The jeweler acknowledged that he forgot the engraving and used the wrong prong tips and agreed to rectify these issues. I haven’t presented the other findings yet, but I wonder if he can even fix the overhang issue. It seems like he would have to redo that hidden halo portion. The cost for the custom mount was a little under $2k (we bought the lab diamond from another vendor).
Can you give me advice as to how to approach this with the jeweler without him getting defensive and possibly not fix it. If there is a cost associated to it, how much do you think it would cost?
Thanks in advance!
