Advice change job from SE to Cloud/Infra

Hello everyone. I am working as an SE in Tokyo. However, the problem is that my company does not have a Cloud/Infra engineer role which i want to be, offers no option for remote work, and I cannot choose the projects I want to work on. Therefore, I am currently working and studying hard for the JLPT N2 and AWS SAA.

My question is: if I have 1 year of experience as an SE and an AWS SAA certificate, can I switch jobs to become a Cloud/Infra engineer in Japan? Is it difficult to switch jobs with only 1 year of experience as an SE to Cloud/Infra? And what do interviewers usually ask a candidate with no prior Cloud experience? Is it hard to get an In-house, remote job? Please share me some review and advice. Thanks

Working in SES company

Hi everyone, I’m a 新卒. I was hired by a Japanese SES company and they brought me over to Japan, but since arriving about 3 months ago, I’ve only been working on documentation and haven't had the chance to touch any code or do anything else. Specifically, my job involves using an internal chatbot to extract information from the source code, and then fixing documents and flow diagrams.

I’d like to ask if this is normal? Is it the same at other IT SES, SLer companies in Japan? If I keep doing this for 1 to 2 years, will it be difficult for me to switch jobs later on? Like idk what to say if interviewer ask me about experience. I'm currently trying to get my N2 certification this year. Should i change job when I got the jlpt N2?

Hello everyone. Im an 新入社員 in Tokyo. About my background:

+ Software engineer University degree

+ JLPT N3 certificate and learning N2

+ English pretty well

+ 2 time intern and almost 1 year with my first full-time job

The reason I want to switch jobs isn't about the money. My current salary is 240,000 JPY, which I find quite reasonable for a fresh graduate. However, since I’m working for an SES company, about 90% of my tasks involve reading and updating documentation for legacy projects. Additionally, my company does not allow remote work, which is a significant drawback for me.

I feel that if I stay here for another year, my coding skills will stagnate. I’m wondering if it's possible to transition as soon as possible to a product-based software company where I can improve my programming skills and have the flexibility of partial or full-time remote work.

Thank you for your advice!
