Safiya Vol II skittle (and the reason my nails are so short and my cuticles so dry)

It’s hard out here for rock-climbing girlies! Absolutely love all of these colours in the sun. I was originally doing a skittle so I could decide which one to use first for a full mani, but instead I just find myself wanting to make another skittle. They’re all so pretty, I can’t pick!

Escalade de voie au Roc Gyms

Salut gang!

Leg loops causing burning pain after weight gain

Hello everyone. I’m new to this sub, but I figured thick thigh issues would be best answered by other women. Hope that’s ok.

I have been climbing for a few years now, and while I used to be a healthy weight, I always had pretty big thighs compared to my waist, which already limited the harness models that were available to me.

Over the last year and a half, I put on about 20 kg, and most of it went to my thighs. As I put on the weight, the leg loops of my harness became more and more uncomfortable, to the point where I hardly want to climb anymore. I still have wiggle room to loosen the loops, and I have tried making them looser, tighter, lower and higher on my thighs. No matter what I do, it remains uncomfortable. I get this barely tolerable burning/tearing pain that I really struggle to describe at the spot where the loops dig into my thighs, particularly on the inside and the back of my thighs. It leaves bruises, too, sometimes.

I know the obvious solution is to lose the extra weight, and it is something I am trying to do in general, but I don’t want to have to set aside the one sport that I actually like for however many months or years it takes me to drop the weight. Bouldering is not an option either at this point in time because of an ankle injury that I have had for the past six months and that my physical therapist estimates will take another six months to fully heal. So I am looking to you for advice. Has this happened to anyone else? Are there ways to minimize this pain? Are there some harnesses specifically made for thicker thighs? I think it might be that the leg loops aren’t wide enough and get swallowed by my thighs, but all harnesses seem to have leg loops of similar width… Help. Thanks.
