Birds 4a for diffuse thickened cyst wall and larger size

I went in for my routine yearly breast MRI last week and returned with a birds 0

Here’s the impression for the cyst

  1. Left breast: A large cystic mass within the upper slightly lateral central left breast at the 2 o'clock position has slightly increased in size when compared to prior study and currently demonstrates diffuse thick walled enhancement at the periphery of the lesion, most severe along the posterior lateral and superior border. The enhancement of the wall of the lesion is new from prior study, and suggest possible superinfection or superimposed malignant involvement. Recommend ultrasound-guided aspiration/biopsy of this lesion for further evaluation given the change in appearance. An island of breast tissue within the far upper aspect of the left axilla is again noted similar to previous study, with metallic tissue marker present centrally within the lesion from prior biopsy. The remainder of the left breast demonstrates a benign-appearing fibrocystic type pattern of enhancement.

I was feeling okay because it was an existing cyst but then when I got the report I felt around and felt a large lump in the position described. That caused me to spiral quite a bit.

I called and got a diagnostic ultrasound for yesterday. In the ultrasound, the radiologist saw nothing but fluid in the cyst and said it looked inflamed but still wanted to perform an aspiration and possible biopsy if there was any tissue. The birds was 4a for the ultrasound.

Today they did the aspiration and were able to remove all of the fluid, so no biopsy. The fluid was normal, so I am done. Feeling so relieved.

Anyway, wanted to share a positive story with a hard lump that looked suspicious on MRI. I am so thankful for the community. It has gotten me through a tough time this week!

Birads 0: Diffuse thick walled enhancement at the periphery of an already existing cyst

Had an MRI today and results are concerning. Anyone have this same thing and the biopsy results were benign?
