Is this normal? G16 2025 fans constantly cycle on/off (1s bursts, sometimes 4x in a row) with almost no load

What's happening:
I'm in Silent mode. When the laptop is 100% idle, the fans usually stay off. But the moment I do the slightest thing — open an app, open a Chrome tab — they spin up and down.

What strikes me as odd is the pattern:

  • Sometimes they run ~1 second and stop.
  • Sometimes they stay on ~10 seconds.
  • And sometimes: ~1s on → off → 2-3s pause → ~1s on → off, repeated about 4 times in a row. Stuttering, not a smooth ramp up and down.
  • The spin-up doesn't sound fully clean either. I wouldn't say it's rubbing against anything, but it's not the smooth sound of a quiet fan starting properly.

Onset: the first 3 days were perfect, zero cycling. It started suddenly one morning on boot, without installing or changing anything obvious.

Already tried:

  • Contacted ASUS support.
  • MyASUS → system diagnostic scan.
  • Updated absolutely everything to the latest version.
  • Ruled out peripherals and an ultrawide curved monitor I was using — it still does it with everything unplugged.
  • Rebooted several times.

My question (just one):
On your G16 2025, in Silent mode, do the fans only kick in when actually needed and stay quiet otherwise? Or do yours also cycle on and off constantly on any light task? Video with sound attached.
