Hey y'all. I am in debt close to 200k (not including interest/fees) and quite possibly close to 300k if I give up my house (negative equity, like 60k).

My question to y'all is has anyone who's had debt like mine have creditors attend the 341 meeting? My spouse and I average 160K with our combined income. When I filed ch.7 I was in debt like 30k with an annual salary of 49K and no creditors attended that meeting.

I just want to preface this by saying this sub has been extremely helpful and oddly comforting during this stressful season of my life.

I have not filed yet. My spouse and I make almost double the median in Florida combined, so Ch. 7 is out and Ch. 13 is what we would file. (not going to lie, the payments freak me out a little)

I have been offered a position out of state and considering taking it because it's my dream job. My spouse would retire and I would be the only one working, still going over the Florida median. I spoke to 3 attorneys in FL and 2 recommended that I file before I move. I consulted with an atty in the other state and they said I would qualify for Ch. 7 since my income would fall under that state's median and social security does not count. They also said I should wait 6 months to establish residency in that state and show our adjusted income.

If I make the move and decide to wait to file in the new state, how long does it typically take for wage garnishment?I have already received a letter from an atty representing AmEx.

If I file in FL and move to the other state, is it possible to convert a Ch. 13 to a Ch.7? Also, how would the payments be affected due to the change in income?

Thanks for any responses, I have a week to make a decision and it's been keeping me up at night.
