Public transport road trip through the Baltics, Krakow, Slovakia, and ending in Prague
Hi! I'm planning a public transport road trip with my mom this summer starting end of May (so very soon). We will be going through the Baltics, Kraków, and Slovakia until we end in Prague, but I wanted to get some advice on my route from people who know the public transport systems and how things actually work nowadays.
I'd been planning this for a year or two, but timing has never worked out for us 😔
We are planning to do all this in around a month and a half and stop at one or two interesting places in each country.
The route is as follows:
Tallinn - Tartu - either go straight to Riga or stop at Sigulda and then continue to Riga - Liepāja - Klaipėda - Kaunas - Vilnius - Kraków - Košice - Poprad - Banská Bystrica - Nitra or Trnava - Bratislava - end in Prague.
With the current fuel crisis and everything, I’m trying to do it on a budget, but still keep it comfortable for my mom. She loves adventure and nature and is really excited about this trip, but she is a bit older so long travel days are a bit hard for her. I'm trying to do shorter transfers to hopefully make things a bit easier.
I've figured out that most the route is doable and pretty easy with public transp, but I wanted to ask people if they have personally done any of this route and transfers with public transport. And if it was easy?
Neither my mom nor I can drive a car, so currently this is our only option for getting around.
Please tell me what you think
Thank you so much!
