Anything like Amygdalatropolis
So, I know Amygdalatropolis by B.R. Yeager isn't exactly extreme horror, but when reading threads on other subs for recommendations based on it, I've noticed most of the suggestions have seemed awfully safe in comparison. I figure I'm probably better off asking here.
So: does anyone have any books with similar premises, characters, surreal elements, or "setting" (as in, the computer or internet as its most prominent space)? The imageboard interactions were super compelling and one of the most unique parts of the book, imo. I think the internet is an excellent source of disgusting inspiration. I also really... "like(?)" /1404er/ as a character; or, more specifically, I think he's incredibly complicated, and the ways which he fluctuates between detatched and cruel, and then so pitiful and pathetic, nearing sympathetic but never quite reaching it, is interesting to me.
I intend to read more of Yeager's work, for sure. I also have Heirs to the Dark Web by J. Boote & Lesley A. Camphouse, and Our Dead Girlfriend by Jon Athan, on my want-to-read. As one might expect—since Amygdalatropolis has all of these—I'm fine with sexual assault, harm to children, harm to animals, fluids, etc etc. The only thing I'd appreciate a warning for is eye stuff (not necessarily a skip, but could be, depending on how graphic or important it is).
Other gross things I like include Tetsuo: The Iron Man, Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freakshow, and my favorite book is The Songs of Maldoror, if that helps any.
