recommendation request. Step dice, light, setting agnostic or hackable
Looking for a system or game recommendation. I'm a big fan of things like fitd, grimwild, freeform universal/neon City overdrive. But I'm looking to break out of the dice pool glut. No d20/ogl type stuff.
In order of importance:
Player facing rolls. As a gm, I prefer it.
Step dice. Love things like yze but most games are the pool version.
Rules lighter than swade. I like the skills and stats system, but the combat stuff and stun checks and extra damage rolls is too much.
Has some level of magic or psionics or something that is easily flavored to it with trappings.
Fail forward/narrative...ie few to no "you miss nothing happens" rolls.
No HP glut.
Handles moderately low fantasy.
