So I acquired this Ultra Plus 120 head last fall. I'd had a 6505 60 watt 112+ combo for years and wound up falling out of love with it. That nasally mid thing that amp had just became increasingly unpleasant to my ears so I decided to unload that in favor of some other Peavey head: Butcher, Triple XXX etc, and wound up with this. It had a few issues and I just got it back from the shop today. Re-tubed with a new set of 6L6's, (had a dead tube) new resonance switch because it was fucked, a weird issue with the reverb sorted and all the shit inside that I don't understand was cleaned/lubricated, and this thing sounds utterly fuckin amazing. I can't wait to take it to the rehearsal space. I truly hope the metal guitar playing community at large never catches on to how good this old Peavey shit is.
