Request User Feedback - DS225+ > Are you happy with storage & Viewing of Photos from TV / Phone ?
Hello there !!!
I have bought a QNAP (ohhhh yeah... the other side... TS-251 for those who know) a few years ago and I am annoyed by their apps (looking old and honestly not performing), the CPU which is dying everytime I update a couple of apps... to the point that I am hardly using it anymore.
I am considering switching to the Synology DS225+, using my current hdd (Seagate ironwolf 3To)... and getting rid of my iCloud subscription.
I want to read about users who chose to dump all their photos on their Synology DS225+ and watch them from there. Are you (really) happy with your experience? And most importantly... would my wife be (for her, it's simple : it just need to almost not change her habits)
Our devices at home : Mac, Windows, iphones, android & Apple TV.
Photo back up
I kindda understood that the photos you take from your iphone automatically back up on the NAS...
- Is that right?
- Can you choose the photos to be stored in folders (like year/month)?
- Can you enable only manual backup with a selection of photos? (imagine the mass of mundane photos that you take because it's practical but don't want backed up)
Consult Photos from Phone
So that I can eventually see my wife's photos of kids AND make sure that they are safe.
- How satisfied are you with the experience?
- Do you have to recreate all trip / event folders yourself manually? What about tagging people?
- Is there anything, little details, that really annoys you and spoil the experience?
- Is the app regularly updated?
Consult from Apple TV
So that kids can watch family photos without taking my phone... and it's way nicer to watch your pic on a 31inches screen (yeah, I am a loser with no big TV set)
- How satisfied are you with the experience?
- Is there anything, little details, that really annoys you and spoil the experience?
- Is the app regularly updated?
And ... is anyone using TimeMachine?
Is it easy to configure & use? Reliable? The system is able to handle a full hard drive and overwrite on old data?
Thank you very much for your answers !!!
