Was wondering about anyone else's experiences at their law school regarding FAFSA and deadlines.
I have a full ride (merit based scholarship) but I also used the unsub loan for this past 1L year to cover housing costs. The issue is my school supposedly had a deadline for FAFSA back in March, and I didn't submit my FAFSA.
The financial aid officer, or head, sent out one email chain titled FAFSA/Scholarship Deadline. I thought, at the time, it was a scholarship deadline for people applying for more need based or merit scholarships. I know schools use it to calculate need and apportion and select certain candidates. I do not require applying to those scholarships. I simply need an Unsub loan, I will be homeless or out of school without it.
I'm worrying, in finals season no less, that it was a hard cutoff from accepting any FAFSA applications. I highly doubt this but I'm worried. I did send them an email but I have not heard back.
Is the fact that I'm submitting my FAFSA after this deadline cutting me out from getting an
Unsub loan? Does anyone know how FAFSA deadlines generally work or apply to federal loans?
Thank you, and I hope you all have a good finals season.
