Can I start at SAIT and transfer to UCalgary for Chemical Engineering later?

Hi everyone, I'm an international student and I'm feeling pretty lost right now. I got an offer from the University of Calgary for Chemical Engineering around February/March, and at that time my family's financial situation was decent enough that they were ready to support the tuition and living expenses. Unfortunately, we had some financial losses over the past few months, and now my family is asking me to explore cheaper options, either a different major or another school. The thing is, if I go to Canada at all, it has to be in the Calgary area because I have relatives there who can support me. Otherwise, my family wants me to consider countries like Malaysia or Thailand instead. I really want to study in Canada though, it's honestly been my dream for years and I know for sure I only want to pursue chemical engineering. I just finished my IB exams this May, and realistically I'm not a super high-achieving student who can secure big scholarships, and also I am not that confident about my results either. I've been looking into SAIT and saw mixed opinions on Reddit about how difficult it can be to find jobs with only a diploma. My plan wouldn't be to stop at a diploma though; I want to eventually complete a bachelor's degree. Since I've already paid my UCalgary enrollment deposit, I was wondering if anyone has gone to SAIT first, taken a program related to chemical engineering, and then transferred to UCalgary, or if there are any other pathways you'd recommend. I'd really appreciate any advice because I genuinely don't know what my best option is right now.
