Need some guidance on Cap Gap
I am currently on my Stem opt expiring on June1st and H1b cap filed and got approved.
May 6th filed
May10th receipt generated and mailed (paper filing)
May18th approved
However I dint receive any receipt or approval notice yet. I am still waiting and my DSO told me that they need I797 receipt notice atleast to generate Cap gap I20. I see my Sevis has already been updated until April 2027. Can someone help me with the situation? I was told to verify I9 before my expiry and I am worried as my petition was paper filing and timelines are around 1-3 weeks to get the receipt and I heard sometimes it takes longer. As my H1b got approved yesterday it might take even longer than the receipt notice.
Shouldn’t the screenshot of my H1b approval and my sevis portal enough to generate cap gap I20? If yes, can you share me any links for reference so I can share it with my DSO?
