Kia "Factory Required Services" - Per the dealer
I have a '21 Soul, for context.
Last year, my local dealer started distributing this maintenance schedule to all of their customers, and even claimed that not following it would void your warranty. They got me on a fuel induction system cleaning before I looked further into this.
I went there one more time this past week and they pulled out this list and recommended a coolant flush before I hit 60,000 miles. I declined and took out my owners manual and compared their "required" services to the real schedule.
Once it was time to pay, I brought the list back and pressed them for more details. The service rep had the gall to claim that certain services (especially fuel induction cleaning) were required, "even if it doesn't say that in the manual", and insisted that this list came from Kia.
I then let him know that I contacted Kia Customer Care after my last visit and sent them a copy of this list, and predictably, they said to follow the schedule in the manual. He backpedaled a little bit, still claimed that this list came from Kia, though now he started referencing info from the dealer's extended warranty program. I left shortly afterwards, never to return (unless there's another recall).
I hope this helps anybody who runs into similar problems with their local dealer, and entertains anybody who is familiar with dealer shenanigans! I left them a fairly scathing review, so I hope that gets some attention and prevents further rip-offs. I'm sure they'll find new ways to generate revenue if this scheme falls through.
