Okay my last dealership I worked as a tech. Customer complaint loosing coolant. I find valley plate leaking, needs reseal. That’s the last I messed with it until I needed to fix it when parts arrived. Parts made sure the correct gaskets were ordered, fipg was the correct type, any one time use bolts, coolant, everything the job required.
At my new dealership I’m a SA. Let’s say a tech diagnosis is rear differential replacement, the tech then spends 20-40 minutes making sure he has all the correct bolts for the job because most are torque to yield, the correct fluid, any additives, etc. at my previous dealership that’s all parts dept. job.
Is it common for techs to have to do this, or what. Seems like a massive waste of time
