For context, I was initially told the spot was filled. However, one of the applicants made the decision not to move so his spot came available. The academy starts 06/19 and registration ends 06/01. The captain told me that’s the academy I will attend contingent on the rest of the hiring process.
I passed the physical and written portion. The captain told me the background is next. What can I do to help speed it up? I’ve already let my references know. Not sure what else I can really do.
I’m only really concerned about my credit. It’s a little shaky right now, but I’ve already started fixing it. Paid off a few credit cards, sold my expensive car (still have another), and refinanced my biggest line of credit into a lower interest rate. That account shows as closed and paid as agreed, not negative or derogatory. I know they look at credit for responsibility and corruption risk. I plan to be upfront about it with my background investigator. I work in sales at State Farm and deal with sensitive personal and financial info every day, and I’ve always handled it ethically. Never risked my career or integrity over a few bucks.
Do you think they’ll take that into account? Both my track record and the steps I’m taking to improve? I don’t want this to be what trips me up. Outside of that, I’m not super concerned with anything else in my background. Have a speeding ticket for 50 in a 45 in 2021. Registration ticket in 2022 for about 10 days past due. Tint ticket in 2024. No accidents or major violations.
Good resume. I’m 22, have worked at State Farm since I was 18. Have received numerous promotions. No disciplinary action ever made against me. Great personal and professional references. Delta 8 use about 7 months ago that the captain already dismissed as not important, just said don’t do it again or I’ll be fired.
All this to say. Anything I can do to make the background go faster? Will poor to okay credit be an issue if proactively working on it?
