Expert tips/suggestions for Dorms?

Originally wanted to ask if anybody knew the dimensions of the student desks in Courtyard (planning to get a 'hutch' for additional storage but the stock photos make the desk appear to be very small...) and then figured experienced Dorm occupants might have lots of suggestions and tips to make that transition to a small space much easier... Thanks in advance!

Additional scholarship offers

Apparently another wave of scholarships has gone out and the deadline to accept is TOMORROW. PLEASE check - that kind of disappointment would be devastating !!

Intramural athletics?

Looking for more information about intramural sports (soccer in particular, but open to others if they're beginner-friendly?) If you have participated, what was the time commitment and how competitive was it? Difficult to find a team, or was it more like a drop-in session?

First year courses full already?

What happens when first year students cannot access the intro courses they "need", to pursue the major they were accepted for? Does SFU actually expect students to enrol and pay for courses that aren't relevant? Serious question: do students just give up and go to a different school altogether? She worked really hard to earn exceptional high school grades ... for what? Can't even get into a Crim course, and that was the basis for her acceptance. It's been decades since I was at university - but this wasn't an issue whatsoever back then. Are students at other universities experiencing the same problem? I feel bad for her (and for kids who haven't even started trying to enrol)

Room selection was frenetic - upper floors were taken; wondering?....

So I chose north-facing, 4th floor.... is there even a snippet of a view, or am I out of luck? Knowing there's no AC, didn't want to deal with a hot/muggy room.

Secured a spot in Courtyard residence, and hoping the pros have some insights to offer - I'm finding the mysterious and vague information provided by SFU to be so frustrating ... Why are there no images of dorm rooms? Is it safe to assume the layouts are the same? Are the single beds standard-sized?(particularly for purchasing bedding) Are you able to get laundry done within a reasonable time frame - or up at dawn because the machines are always full? If you are living there now, what do you love about it? Anything you hate (besides guaranteed NASTY bathrooms?) Can you offer real-life advice for what you brought and didn't need, vs what you need and didn't bring? Walls look bare - any options allowed for hanging pictures/posters etc? So many questions... Thanks kindly for your words of wisdom :)
