Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate some candid advice from people who have gone through MBA or US recruiting. I’m from Asia and was recently admitted to Wharton with a $140k fellowship, which I’m very grateful for.

I’m currently earning ~$90k USD post-tax annually in my home country, where cost of living is significantly lower. The challenge is evaluating whether Wharton makes sense financially, especially if I self-fund the remaining cost (roughly ~$130k+ plus opportunity cost).

My main questions:

  • For international students, how realistic is it to land US roles (consulting / tech / finance) that allow meaningful savings after tax and living cost?
  • Given my current income level, does Wharton still make sense financially, or is this more of a long-term / optionality investment rather than immediate ROI?

I’ve never studied abroad before, so this is a personal dream, but I’m trying to make a rational decision. Really appreciate any honest perspectives.
