Ok, weird question.
If I received a random e-deposit into my account, can the sender have it eventually reversed?
For context, I just received a sizeable e-deposit from a name I don't recognize, and for an amount I am not expecting. My email address is my name, which is pretty unique and unlike any other name combinations (unique ethnic name). And my email account name matches the bank account name that would appear in the prompt the sender must click to confirm.
I am considering reaching out to the sender, but don't want to be scammed if the bank can reverse the deposit eventually. Unfortunately, a quick Facebook search of the sender's name (which is common) returns 30+ profiles worldwide, including 2 in Kentville and 3 in the HRM. The sender's email address doesn't show up on Google results.
Any thoughts or advice?
