Complete Guide to MUJ B.Tech Admissions 2026 & Freshers GC Info — Read Before Asking!

Complete Guide to MUJ B.Tech Admissions 2026 + Freshers GC — Read Before Asking!

Confused about MUJ B.Tech admissions & eligibility? No worries, here's everything in one place.

Joining MUJ in 2026? There's a Freshers GC — DM me once your admission is confirmed to get added.

1. ADMISSION ROUTES

There are two ways to get into MUJ B.Tech:

ROUTE A: Direct Admission (Merit Based)

PMX = Physics + Math + any one of Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Electronics, IT, Informatics Practices, Engineering Drawing, Engineering Graphics, or Statistics

Eligibility for CSE:

  • 70%+ in PMX, OR
  • 60%+ in PMX with SAT score of 75%+ OR JEE Main 90%ile+

Eligibility for all other branches (CS & Biosciences, ECE, Electrical & Computer, Robotics & AI, Civil, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Fashion Technology, Electronics VLSI, Chemical Engineering):

  • 60%+ in PMX

> These cutoffs are fixed. No relaxation, no concession, no exceptions.

How the process works:

  1. Apply on MUJ's official website: https://admissions.jaipur.manipal.edu/
  2. Get an offer letter within hours to 2 days. Tip: After applying, contact the relevant admission counsellor and ask them to review your application on priority, this speeds things up significantly. First-time applicants can do this too for faster processing.
  3. Pay the ₹10,000 registration fee within 1 month
  4. Pay full 1st year tuition fees within 1-2 weeks of the registration fee
  5. You'll receive a Provisional Admission Order (with your passport photo) — this IS your final admission letter. Don't wait for any other confirmation. "Provisional" just means board results are pending, your seat is confirmed once fees are paid.
  6. Upload your board results on the portal after they're declared
  7. Final document verification on Orientation Day

> ⚠️ Important: If your final board results come in below the cutoff after fees are paid, you'll need to either switch to an eligible branch OR take a full refund. Apply at least 15 days before Orientation Day to be eligible for a full refund. No exceptions.

> 📸 Bonus tip: Use the passport photo you want on your college ID card when filling the application, MUJ uses that photo for your ID.

ROUTE B: Admission via MET (Manipal Entrance Test)

Eligibility: 50%+ in PMX is enough

MET cutoff ranks for CSE (2025 reference):

  • Round 1: 30,100
  • Round 2: 32,632
  • Round 3: 33,571
  • Round 4: 39,307

Getting CSE through MET is relatively straightforward even with a rank up to ~39k. Fee structure is identical to direct admission, no extra charges. There is zero segregation between Direct and MET students after admission.

> 🔢 Want to predict your MET rank? Use this tool based on past year counselling cutoffs: https://www.rankpredictor.in/met2026

> 🎓 For MET-related doubts and counselling results, visit r/manipal_academics

> 💡 Didn't get CSE? If CSE feels out of reach on merit or rank, seriously consider Computer Science & Biosciences (CSB). It shares ~70% of the CSE curriculum and CS-related subjects are taught by CSE professors, it's the closest alternative to CSE you'll find at MUJ. For direct admission, you only need 60%+ in PMX. Through MET, cutoff ranks ranged from 31,981 to 35,824 across rounds 1-3, closing at 51,264 in Round 4, so it's quite accessible. The one thing to know going in: the degree is offered under the Department of Biotechnology & Chemical Engineering, not CSE. But in terms of what you'll actually study day-to-day, it's a very solid pick.

2. ABOUT CSE AT MUJ: WHAT TO EXPECT

The B.Tech CSE intake for 2026 is 2,610 seats, same as last year. That's a large batch, which means competition is real from day one.

One thing to clear up upfront: specializations are no longer offered as a separate course. Your degree will simply read B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, no stream suffix.

Academics matter more than you think.

The top 15-20% of students, those maintaining a net average CGPA of 9+, will qualify for almost all the good internship offers that come to campus. Internship season begins from 3rd year, when the college starts bringing companies in. If you're in that bracket by end of 2nd year, you're in a strong position.

Didn't make it there by 2nd year? You still have time. A strong 3rd year can open doors for the best placement companies. But don't let it pile up, the earlier you build your CGPA, the more room you have to breathe later.

Every new semester is a fresh chance to recover or pull ahead. Never let it get too late. Start strong, stay consistent, and the opportunities will follow.

3. ADMISSION CONTACTS

Not sure about your admission status, fees, or branch change? Contact the counsellor responsible for your specific program: https://jaipur.manipal.edu/admission-contact.php

Haven't heard back on your application yet? Reach out directly to the counsellor for your chosen branch and ask them to review your application on priority, mention that you are eligible as stated on the website.

3. HIRING CHANNELS: HOW COMPANIES ACTUALLY HIRE

This is what most students don't know going in. Different companies have very different hiring pathways:

  • Google: Kick Start, Code Jam, Campus Placements, Referrals
  • Microsoft: Engage Program, Codeforces Rounds, Campus Drives, Referrals
  • Amazon: CodeWhiz, HackerRank Assessments, Campus Hiring

6. PRO TIPS: GET VISIBLE

Maintain an active profile on LinkedIn, HackerRank, HackerEarth, and Codeforces. Participate in company-specific hackathons like Flipkart GRID and Amazon CodeWhiz. Contribute to open source and developer communities. Referral drives are real: build genuine connections with seniors and alumni.

Preparing for GATE is optional but worth considering. Some companies like Qualcomm and Oracle factor in GATE scores for specific roles.

7. HOW CGPA IS CALCULATED AT MUJ

Since CGPA is what determines your internship and placement eligibility, here's exactly how it works:

Grade Values: A+ = 10 | A = 9 | B = 8 | C = 7 | D = 6 | E = 5 | DT/F/S/U = 0

SGPA = Sum of (Credits × Grade Value) ÷ Total Credits for that semester

CGPA = Weighted average of all SGPAs across semesters, weighted by credits

Example: If Sem 1 SGPA is 7.0 with 26 credits and Sem 2 SGPA is 8.0 with 24 credits: CGPA = (7×26 + 8×24) ÷ (26+24) = (182+192) ÷ 50 = 7.48

> Every grade in every subject contributes. There's no throwing away a bad semester: it stays in the average. This is exactly why starting strong matters.

> 💡 Bonus (from student & senior experience, not from Induction): Placement eligibility at MUJ is largely determined by the net CGPA you've accumulated across all semesters. If your board marks weren't great, your CGPA is your chance to compensate and unlike board marks, your CGPA is entirely in your hands. > > Always aim for 9+ CGPA to stay eligible for the most companies and face the least competition. A 6+ or 7+ CGPA will still get you into some companies, but the pool of eligible candidates shrinks fast and the competition at that level gets harder, not easier. Most companies actively filter for students who were sincere in their college academics. > > Yes, some companies do have board marks cutoff criteria but many don't. And for those that do, a strong college CGPA still keeps a lot of good doors open. There will always be something worth going for if you've kept your CGPA high. > > The lower your CGPA, the more you're pushed toward skill-based off-campus routes which is fine, but it's high competition and you lose the biggest advantage of choosing a placement-active college in the first place. > > You can't go back and change your board marks. Don't spend energy dwelling on the past. Focus on the present and the future. Your CGPA starts from Day 1. Make that count.
