Two years in and I’m at my wit’s end. I live in an older building and can hear every single footstep from the unit above me. My upstairs neighbors have a young child (4 to 6 years old) who runs, jumps, and stomps constantly throughout the day. I’ve talked to the neighbors directly and they have no interest in making any accommodations. I’ve gone to management and they say there’s nothing they can do.
I don’t want to move. My rent is reasonable, the unit is spacious, and I haven’t been able to find anything comparable for the price.
So I’m asking anyone who has been in a similar situation: did you ever find something that actually worked? Whether it’s a noise solution, a legal angle, a way to escalate with management, anything. I’m not looking to make anyone’s life difficult, I just want some peace in my own home.
