I'm a dual UK/US citizen – looking at moving to the US, but struggling to find work there.

I'm currently out of work, and I feel UK is looking increasingly like a dead-end in every way. it's a bit doom and gloom.

My experience is in market/social research (think surveys, focus groups & reporting quant and qual). These are specific roles that have specific tasks, which are highly available in the US based on my job search.

I've applied for quite a lot of jobs in the US, but strangly I have not had one single interview, whereas it's fairly do-able getting interivews here in the UK at exactly the same type of companies.

I've used a US postal address, and made it clear on my CV I'm a US citizen.

Any advice on how to get a job in America?

And also where to live? I don't know know anyone there and I'm on my own.

Edit: Thanks to everyone for replying and giving helpful pointers! I'll take those into account. I appreciate the market is equally tough in the US as the UK by the sounds of it, but I shall take on board those practical suggestions!
