What type of paving should I use?

Hi all
I’m looking to replace the paving in my small back garden. Essentially, I am looking for something that ties in with the historic granite and limestone wall. This wall is over 150 years old and a lovely garden feature. My house is a 25 year-old mews house. I will remove the bamboos put in some nice plants and put fencing on top of the wall to block the extension next door. I will replace the grey gravel too.
My main question is I’m not sure if I should use modern neat paving or a more rustic stone effect.
Any ideas?? 🙂 Thanks!!

This is absolutely rampant across Dublin and something you simply don’t see in other European cities. Estate agents blatantly ignoring bylaws on To Let and For Sale signs. Bylaws state (1) signs should not exceed 1.2sqm (0.6 sqm for residential properties). (2) Only 1 sign is permitted, and (3)signs must be removed no more than one week after sale. Some of these are in place for years.
There are literally thousands of abuses of bylaws across the city and Dublin looks much worse for it. DCC simply doesn’t enforce. Definitely something that needs addressing.
It’s far past time we got in line with the rest of Europe and banned such eyesores (particularly in heritage areas). Given that everything is online nowadays they serve little purpose other than promoting the Estate Agents brand.
